May the Destination be known! At least, that is what these boys hoped to know on the weekend of December 5-6. That weekend was the Destination Unknown campout for the boys of Troop 97. They were all prepared for a backpacking trip. The only problem, the young boys had no idea that they were about to relive the nostalgic campground of Little River Canyon in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Tis the season to be jolly, so the campers competed in a Christmas Decorating contest, and were divided into three crews. When they arrived, they were greeted by a majestic waterfall, with a sweeping current that would carry an elephant down river. On Saturday night, the campers thought they were hiking 5 miles, but did not hike much at all. The patrols were judged on Christmas decorations, and Literally The Best Patrol (yes, that is their name), blew the competition out of the water. In the end, the Force was with these young scouts, as they watched Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which was a fine end to a great campout, is it not?
